Mount Vernon First United Methodist Church invites you to fellowship through our many small group opportunities. While each group is distinct, all members grow in faith and knowledge of the Bible.

Christian Education Groups

Christian Education and our Christian groups invite you to join them!  God never intended for anyone to go through life alone.  Our groups provide opportunities to experience God’s love and grace, caring and praying for one another, and the study and application of the Bible to our daily lives.

SUNDAY morning groups include:

J.O.Y. Class at 9:30 in the Zadok Casey Room. This class is designed for the more senior members of our congregation and study God’s word.

OPEN DOOR Class at 10:00 in Bryan Dycus Hall.  This class is designed for all ages and engage in discussion of contemporary Christian books and thinking.

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Are you over 55 or retired?

If you are 55 years of age or retired, then Pioneers welcomes you. At Pioneers, we gather together for a meal, fellowship, and special programs on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 12:00 noon from September to May.

Pioneers will meet on Wednesday, January 24th, at Crossroads Community Hospital where we will be their guests.  Lunch will be provided.  The program will include information about “Our Healthy Circle” (formerly Senior Circle).  “Our Healthy Circle is dedicated to making life after 50 more active, informed, fun and full of friends.”  Enter at the Front Doors of the Hospital and someone will be there to greet you and show you to the meeting room.
